Pool Companies in Northern NJ

Posted on: January 29th, 2012 by Team FS

Best Pool Companies in Northern NJ? There are a number of pool companies that cover the northern region of New Jersey, however, there are only a select few that I would trust to handle my swimming pool project. Here at FS Landscaping Contractors, we specialize in all the finishing touches of concrete and fiberglass swimming pools. From the design to stamped concrete, pavers, waterfalls, grottos, coping,  fencing and more. You dream it! We build it!

It is very important to choose the right swimming pool contractor when deciding to build a pool in your backyard. Anyone can call themselves a pool builder and sub-contract the entire pool and profit up to 30% not touching a single part of the pool. Be sure the pool company has references dating at least 5 years back. The most important thing when choosing a fiberglass pool builder that the company has over 10 years of experience in setting fiberglass pools. The process of installing a fiberglass swimming pool doesn’t take as long as a concrete pools but the precision of leveling a fiberglass pool is more critical than anything.

FS Landscaping Contractors, Inc. can take all the research and worry out of deciding the right pool builder for you. We work with/for the best in the business.

Best Hardwood Pellets

Posted on: January 26th, 2012 by Team FS

There are about 1/2 a dozen ways to heat your home; gas, oil, electric heat, and pellet stoves are a few of these options. With the price of oil and electric these days, adding a wood pellet stove to your home can help reduce your monthly bills drastically. If you currently use electric heat, pellets can reduce your heating costs by almost 2/3 and they are about 1/2 the cost of propane. Unlike chimneys, wood pellet stoves can be placed just about any where in your home. All that needs to be installed is a tin metal liner. The emissions are not nearly as great as that of a regular wood stove. The pellets themselves look like rodent food. They are created out of recycled, compressed sawdust from lumber mills and come in 40lb. bags. It is a lot easier and cleaner to store pellets than it is to store a cord of firewood. Froehlich’s Farm & Garden carries a premium brand of clean burning pellets made by Pennington. The ash content is less than 1% and they are made of hardwood. Each bag is $7.00 and a ton is $285.00. This may sound a lot more expensive than what you get at major hardware stores, but the quality makes up for the price discrepancy. Stop in and try a bag! We also deliver!

Jonathan Green Turf Products

Posted on: January 23rd, 2012 by Team FS

Most home owners strive to have a beautiful, dark green lawn. Between the mowing, the fertilization, the insects and the hydration, some times that goal can seem unattainable. With Jonathan Green products it is a lot easier to achieve the perfect lawn. Like most other lawn care companies, Jonathan Green has a 4-step program. But unlike their competitors, these steps are not completely limited to 1 short time frame throughout the year. For instance, the 1st step of the program is a crabgrass preventative and also contains fertilizer. This product can still be used 4 weeks later than its competitors and can also be implemented in the fall to help control annual bluegrass. This family owned company continues to improve and produce quality products. Their seed roots deeper than most which makes it a much more successful germination. The Black Beauty seed can root as far down as four feet! Sod farmers across the United states have switched to this Jonathan Green grass. Soil pH has a lot to do with whether or not your lawn will be lush and green or brittle and brown. Mag-i-cal, a calcium fertilizer created by Jonathan Green, helps to balance the soil to ensure more success. One bag of this product is equal to using 10 bags of lime. The humates in Mag-i-cal help to stimulate microbial activity in the soil and it is phosphorus-free which is great for the environment. Look for these products and more at Froehlich’s Farm & Garden this year!

Support Your Local Garden Centers

Posted on: January 23rd, 2012 by Team FS

Gardening is one of the most popular hobbies across the globe. It’s not hard to understand why. Just the intake of Vitamin D through sunlight helps with brain function and it also helps to boost your metabolism and immune system. Aside from the medical benefits, digging in the dirt is simply an enjoyable past time. Plants can be found in the grocery store and Home Depot as well as your local garden centers like Froehlich’s Farm & Garden. Whenever possible, it is much better to support the local businesses in your area. While Home Depot and other chain box stores may be able to provide you a lower price on the product you want, the quality and service you receive from a smaller business is unmatched. With the amount of traffic the larger stores receive it is almost impossible to provide one-on-one service with every single customer that walks through the door. Here at Froehlich’s Farm we do our very best to meet and greet every body that walks through our front door. When our customers have questions that we do not have the answer to we are able to take the time to find the answer and provide you with the knowledge you need to properly care for your plant material. We take such careful care of our plants that we want you to have the knowledge to continue that care when you take it home.
Besides the service a smaller business can provide, local family owned establishments have a history to share with their community. Froehlich’s has been around since 1942 and there are a number of other businesses that have become local staples. Part of what makes Bucks County such an interesting destination to visit and live in are these companies. While surrounded by box stores that thrive and continue to pop up across the nation, our community still supports its local talent which has enabled us to be in existence for so long. On behalf of the entire Froehlich’s Farm & Garden Family, we would like to thank you for your continued support of our local business and we hope to provide you many more years of quality products and service.

Annual Flowers Pennsylvania

Posted on: January 13th, 2012 by Team FS
Winter is a great time to begin thinking about your landscape and containers for the next growing season. Every one thinks about their trees, shrubs, and perennials which provide a lot of texture and depth, but don’t forget your annual flowers. They bring long lasting color and interest to any garden. If taken care of properly, annuals can bloom for months and can last you into the next season. Most perennial blooms will not last you that long, even if they are dead headed and fertilized on a regular basis. After the first showing of flowers, if there is another, it is often significantly smaller. The general rule of thumb is to plant annual flowers outside after Mother’s Day when there is no more threat of frost. A lot of these plants are actually tender perennials that will come back if there is a mild winter and they are in a protected area. Before purchasing plants, carefully analyze the areas where you want to add some color. A large key to success with annuals and other plants is to choose the right plant for the right location. Putting shade loving Impatiens by the mailbox that experience full sun from dawn until dusk will not work. Most garden centers have designated areas for their shade annuals and their full sun annuals. If these areas are not specifically marked out by signs it is usually OK to assume the plants staying in full sun all day can tolerate that kind of exposure.

The week of Mother’s Day is a great time to begin your Spring plant shopping. The weekend of Mother’s Day is the biggest weekend for garden centers, so if you can make it out during the week you will have more to choose from. Froehlich’s Farm & Garden grows the majority of their annuals in greenhouses on the property. Our hanging baskets of annual flowers are more than impressive. We take the time to fertilize and dead head them regularly so that they are lush and beautiful every time you come in. We at the farm provide a wide variety of annuals to help give you an interesting array of color throughout the growing season. Annual flowers do take a little more work to keep them looking neat and tidy but if you do not have the time to care for them, we do! Froehlich’s Farm & Garden will now be providing maintenance services which include, but are not limited to, container and flower bed care. Stop in for beautiful plant material and helpful hints. Our staff is always ready to lend a helping hand.
